We like to think of our ceaseless work at Two Pony Gardens as play, or really more of a dance between soil, sky, hands, and all creatures. Together we create a dynamic world where both expansion and equilibrium are invited and welcomed.
The evolution of this farm and its’ people is as practical and pragmatic as it is mysterious and magical. We thrive on principles of sustainability, of nourishment, of wonder, and of living simply with our hearts, eyes, and ears open to the vibrant world around us.
LISA RINGER TWO PONY MATRIARCH / Founder / master gardener
Lisa Ringer is our lead and founding Two Pony Person, she has held this space for the dance since the early 90s, but raised her family nearby in the Wolsfeld Woods even earlier. Lisa is amongst some of her longest friends in these woods, having rode her pony through these trees in her childhood. Her passions and interests are varied and ever-expanding, from her love of traditional draft horse work, to perfecting the perfect pizza, to keeping each of her farm animal creatures in comfort on the farm (each feeding system is slowly evolved to perfection). To curating a space where beauty and learning walk hand-in-hand, Lisa works at each of these things tirelessly and unperturbed. Lisa is keen on noticing the little things. Listening to the woods, to the animals, and to people too. She is captivated by the land and the woods for the same reasons as anyone: the awe and comfort of our origins.
KATHERINE PRICE FARM MANAGER
We all need that somebody to keep us tethered in moments of bobbing adrift; where are we going, exactly? And, by the way, how might we arrive? That is precisely where Katherine comes in (affectionately, our indispensable KP).
Katherine was first hired by Lisa's daughter Anna to be her first employee at The Foundry Home Goods in 2012 and within a few years Katherine was swept away, bringing her vast array of talents to Two Pony Gardens. At first just helping out with web stuff, social media, etc. eventually Katherine made herself indispensable. Without the Doers, we truly are doomed. And KP is our Doer. She keeps us on the rails, helps us find the new tracks we might not have braved if not for her cunning and daring ease into realms that might not exactly come natural for the country bumpkin at the heart of us. Yet, she prunes tomatoes, plants dahlias, and knows the ins-and-outs of each aspect of Two Pony Gardens not because she must, but because she wants. She wants to help our mission succeed and be a part of the legacy of succession we are crafting piece by piece and step by step, together. A contingency of women helping one another through and for the land; we are lucky and happy to have KP as one of us.
